Calling all St. Louis nonprofits: Charitable organization, Brackets For Good, challenges your organization to friendly competition and a chance to win $10,000!

Indianapolis-based Brackets For Good hosts online, bracket-style fundraising tournaments every March in communities around the United States. Participating nonprofits rally enthusiastic donors to out-fundraise their opponents in order to advance. These organizations gain exposure, access to free fundraising tools and potential new donors through Brackets for Good’s localized marketing and corporate involvement.

The 2016 tournament in the St. Louis area garnered 1,887 donations, 49 percent of which were first-time donations. Donors gave $190,272 total, and tournament champion Athletes For Animals brought in $29,683, on top of the $10,000 prize from corporate sponsor YouthBridge Community Foundation.

Since Brackets For Good’s kickoff contest in 2012, it has raised more than $2.75 million for local charities. Due to the overwhelming success, the tournament originally expanded from Indianapolis to  Louisville, followed by Ann Arbor, St. Louis and Twin Cities. Brackets For Good is pleased to announce it will break into several other markets in 2017, including Denver, Cincinnati, Miami, Hartford, Nashville and Baltimore.

To participate, charities should register free at https://stlouis.bfg.org/city by Oct. 28, 2016. One-hundred-twenty-seven St. Louis nonprofits have already registered to be considered to play in the 2017 tournament starting Feb. 24.

The positive impact of the Brackets For Good tournament on the St. Louis-area is only made possible due to the support of local businesses dedicated to the community. Brackets For Good 2017 St. Louis sponsors include: YouthBridge Community Foundation, Simploy, Ferguson Roofing, Jet Linx, Commerce Bank and Lids.

“YouthBridge Community Foundation is dedicated to building strong communities by bridging the resources of donors with community needs,” said Michael Howard, CEO, YouthBridge Community Foundation. “By helping bring the Brackets For Good tournament to St. Louis, we’re doing exactly that. We’re activating donors in a fun way to support the needs of the community. As a result our community is stronger. We’re excited for the St. Louis Brackets For Good tournament to have an even greater impact on the St. Louis community in its second year.”

With the competitive giving tournament returning to the St. Louis area for a second year, Brackets For Good founders are hopeful that the dollars raised will be even higher in 2017.

“We’re excited to be hosting the second St. Louis Brackets For Good tournament, co-founder Matt McIntyre said. “This past March, $190,272 was raised for nonprofits in the St. Louis area. We’re confident this year’s tournament will be even more successful at raising awareness and funds for local nonprofits. Beyond raising funds for nonprofits, we’re excited about the longterm impact of getting more and new people in the community involved in philanthropy.”

Community service is a cornerstone for Ferguson Roofing

Posted on February 08, 2016 by Rachel Purviance

Brackets for Good is proud to announce Ferguson Roofing as a divisional sponsor of the 2016 tournament in St. Louis.

Ferguson Roofing has a history of supporting community, customers and staff through various efforts.

“Our mission is to protect your residential or commercial property through high-quality workmanship, optimal product selection, industry leading warranties and excellent customer service while upholding the reputation and values we have built upon for 75 years.”

Ferguson Roofing is a proud member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and the Fairview Heights Chamber of Commerce. We are very happy for the opportunity to support local businesses, schools and charities in the Greater St. Louis and metro East Illinois areas. Ferguson is also involved in many golf tournament, trivia, and gala sponsorships to support causes such diabetes, children’s dental care, education and shelter for disadvantaged children and numerous other foundations.

We are evolving our philanthropic strategy to better leverage our resources, both financially and with our team. We are applying the same acumen to our corporate philanthropy that we do to our general business strategy. Our entire staff is included in this process as philanthropy becomes a more actionable and personal piece of our team culture.

Innovation continues to thrive with the third generation now operating the business. For brothers Brett and Jason, green is not a color at Ferguson Roofing, it’s a focus and passion. The “Think Green” process is applied on every front. Ferguson investigates and tests the newest environmentally sound products and techniques, often before they even hit the market. Additionally, Ferguson is a devout recycler – from old shingles at the job site to copier paper in the office.

Customer service is and always has been a cornerstone in the success of Ferguson Roofing. Yet there is another “C” service that we hold important: Community service. After all, we live here in Greater St. Louis and metro east Illinois with our co-workers, friends and family. We like to help make it a better place.”

What is next on the horizon for Ferguson Roofing? There are projects being developed all of the time. Whatever it is, the safe bet is it will incorporate honorable business practices with innovative, cutting-edge technology and products and quite possibly a Shupp on-site skippering the project.
